22 Aug Families in Madona Municipality on the visits of the Children’s Mobile Health Care Centre

The Madona Municipality has signed an agreement with the foundation Ronald McDonald House Charities Latvija regarding the children’s Care Mobile outreach specialist consultations for children. The foundation’s children’s Care Mobile, in cooperation with doctors from the Children’s Clinical University Hospital, provides visits to families with children in Madona, Cesvaine, Lubāna, and Ērgļi, offering free medical services – specialist consultations for children – at least once per quarter in each location.

In many parts of Latvia (including Madona Municipality), the children’s Care Mobile is the only practical solution to ensure timely medical consultations for children and youth. The Centre provides free consultations closer to home, directly improving children’s health and well-being.

The cooperation between Madona Municipality, the Social Service, and RMHC Latvija began in 2013 and has been highly positive and necessary, as confirmed by words of gratitude and the strong interest from service recipients. In nearly every outreach location, the children’s Care Mobile arrives several times a year. These consultations ensure continuity of care for children with chronic illnesses. When needed, specialists also maintain contact with local doctors, who continue the child’s treatment and follow-up. Specialists from the Children’s Clinical University Hospital issue recommendations and, if necessary, refer children for further examinations with other specialists. This cooperation and continuity ensure comprehensive health care for children with access to specialists otherwise unavailable in Madona.

During each visit, two medical specialists consult with young patients, providing care to more than 40 children. There is particularly high demand for allergologists, ophthalmologists, neurologists, and gastroenterologists.

Supporting these much-needed visits, Madona Municipality has committed to cover fuel expenses for the trips to the region. Meanwhile, the Social Service organizes registration for consultations at the children’s Care Mobile, placing applications in line and forwarding them to the Centre.
