The Riga International Rotary Club (RIRC) is organising its annual “Santa Fun Run” on 8 December this year. All you have to do to take part in this great event is buy a ticket, which includes a Santa costume. 

Event program: 

13:00 – Beginning of handout of Santa suits and ticket sale. Tickets can also be purchased before the event – Santa Fun Run – Tickets | Fienta

 

14:30 – Warm-up before the run

 

15:00 – Start of the Santa Fun Run

 

15:30 – Party with DJs and Christmas songs

 

17:00 – The End of the event

 

“Since 2008, we have been organising the charity Santa’s Fun Run every December for seventeen years. This year’s run will also take place,” says Kārlis Bankovičs, one of the race organisers, adding that 575 participants took part in last year’s run. “We have used the funds raised to support various charities in Latvia. This year we will continue to support the activities of our long-standing partner RMHC Latvija (Ronald McDonald House Charities Latvija) children’s programme “Mobile Health Care Centre” and together we will help to purchase a new mobile centre, which will be the most modern medical facility of its kind in Latvia. RMHC Latvija’s mission is to ensure access to services that have a direct impact on the health and well-being of children in Latvia. 

Many children living in rural areas do not have access to qualified medical professionals close to their homes. To see a medical specialist, families with children have to travel a long distance to Riga or to a regional medical facility; many families do not have the means to make the long journey. RMHC Latvia’s Mobile Health Centre for Children has provided 6 025 free medical consultations to more than 5 000 children in 40 different locations in rural areas of Latvia this year. In 14 years of operation, more than 62 800 free medical consultations have been provided to children in the region of Latvia.”
